EC's Playlist for the Dylan Center

That Fatal Mailing List #44: Dateline - Tulsa, OK

On May 10, the new Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa, OK will open to the public. It’s a 29,000-square-foot museum of all things Bob, featuring highlights from a collection of more than 100,000 items related to the man.

This past week saw the unveiling of the center to press, including Ray Padgett, who runs the indispensible Flagging Down the Double E’s newsletter, which focuses mostly on live Dylan but also includes other Dylan-related treats. It’s a great read, and I’m a happily paid subscriber.

I’m also happy to share some of Ray’s incredible coverage of the opening, as it relates to one of our favorite dudes, Elvis Costello. EC has curated a jukebox of songs by Dylan, alongside songs that inspired Dylan, designed “to plot a line in and out of some of the greatest songs ever written.”

Here, direct from the floor of the Bob Dylan Center, is the tracklist for EC’s Perspectives: A Jukebox Experience, along with the short piece Costello wrote to acocompany the exhibit.

A million thanks to Ray Padgett for agreeing to share this. Again, if you love Dylan, like Dylan, or just don’t get the fuss, you will get something out of his Dylan newsletter. It’s maybe the best $5 I spend every month (that isn’t a cocktail).
